1) Michigan State (1-0, 0-0, +5)
2) Texas State (1-0, 0-0, +5)

3) Alabama (1-0, 0-0, +3)- Even though I've got them third, Alabama was clearly the best team in the country on Week One.  Until Denard Robinson scored just before half time, the Tide's defense had gone 7+ quarters and 280 days without allowing any points.  And that's against Auburn, #1 LSU, and #8 Michigan.  They host Western Kentucky next week before traveling to #10 Arkansas on Sep. 15.

4) Nebraska (1-0, 0-0, +3)
5) Clemson (1-0, 0-0, +2)

6) Ohio (1-0, 0-0, +2)
7) LSU (1-0, 0-0, +1)
8) Oklahoma State (1-0, 0-0, +1)
9) Oregon (1-0, 0-0, +1)
10) Arkansas (1-0, 0-0, +1)

11) Stanford (1-0, 0-0, +1)
12) Wisconsin (1-0, 0-0, +1)

13) USC (1-0, 0-0, +1) - USC looked good in their 49-10 win against over-matched Hawai'i, and should be No. 2 next week.  But it's a little disconcerting when you're beating a WAC team at home by about the sme margin that the No. 1 team in the country is beating Michigan.

14) Kansas State (1-0, 0-0, +1)
15) Oklahoma (1-0, 0-0,+1)

16) South Carolina (1-0, 1-0, +1)

17) Georgia (1-0, 0-0, +1)- The Beasts of the East were not impressing me on Saturday.  Georgia struggled against Buffalo, Florida got a scare from Bowling Green, and South Carolina looked sloppy against Vanderbilt.  LSU and Alabama are still looking heads and shoulders above the rest of the SEC.

18) West Virginia (1-0, 0-0, +1)
19) Brigham Young (1-0, 0-0, +1)
20) Tennessee (1-0, 0-0, +1)

21) Notre Dame (1-0, 0-0, +1)- I'm worried about Notre Dame.  They looked really good in routing Navy 50-10, and, for the first time, I'm wondering if they're actually not overrated.  But they are not good enough to win games at Michigan State, at Oklahoma, and at USC.  8 wins should be considered a massive success this season at South Bend.

22) Nevada (1-0, 0-0, +1)

23) Missouri (1-0, 0-0, +1)- Next week will be a big one for Missouri, when they open SEC play at home against Georgia.  I think they're going to get their butts kicked.

24) Mississippi State (1-0, 0-0, +1)

25) Northwestern (1-0, 0-0, +1)- I'm giving Northwestern the last spot as a reward.  First, for playing in the best, most exciting game of the week in a 42-41 win at Syracuse, and, second, for having the courage to schedule hard.  The Wildcats host Vanderbilt next week, and Boston College the week after.
